Lately I have had a really difficult time of keeping myself focused. I try my best to stay on track but then I "wake up" doing something I didn't have planned. When I say "wake up" I don't mean I blacked out or had memory loss but that my mind has checked out, stsrts thinking about other stuff and when I become aware of what is going on around me, I'm not doing what I was before my mind drifted away. Does this ever happen to you?
This isn't too bad during housework or other things I don't really enjoy except that I find what I started doing didn't get finished before I moved on to the next thing. Making this ordeal rather frustrating as now I have at least two if not more started but not finished projects.
Blogging is one of the projects that I got distracted from. I have stories to tell but never seem to have time to tell them. I'm so upset with myself for not making myself stick to my commitment of a story a week. A story a week is also one of my goals for the year. Here it is mid-March and I'm not in the habit yet.
Another one of my goals is to do and keep up with Project Life for 2017. To help me get on track I am taking a class given by Ali Edwards called Telling the Story with Project Life. I don't know if you can still sign up for this class but if you have struggled in the past with finishing this project then this is the class you need to take.
In one of the lessons Ali talks about organizing/scheduling time to do Project Life. I've heard all of this before over and over but it never clicked until now. I think because she shows in a video exactly the steps she takes to do a week layout. How quick and easy she did it was a complete game changer for me. This has me thinking about how to do Project Life in a whole new light. One of the things she said was if all you have is 15 minutes a day for your PL then decide what you want to get done in that 15 minutes. Choose photos one day, edit them the next day if didn't have time when picked them, print photos on day three and put in pockets, day four do journaling and day five add what embellishments you want. And Bam!! you have your week done. Wow!! is all I could think of after watching that video.
My point with this is that what she taught can be applied to blogging. The difference would be instead of taking days to complete spread throughout an day. Take a couple of minutes here & there to tell my story and take pictures that go with it. Easy peasy!!
And that's what I'm doing today. I'm sitting here during lunch break from a class I'm taking writing my story.
So what's going on today. I'm so glad you asked!! It's National Puppy Day! A woman named Colleen Paige declared the first National Puppy Day in 2006. Today is to celebrate the unconditional love and joy that puppies bring to our lives, and to raise awareness about the horrors of puppy mills.
I don't know if you are aware of this, I certainly wasn't, but there are more than 8,000 puppy mills and “backyard breeders” in America that supply our nation’s pet stores. The dogs at these puppy mills are kept in terrible conditions and are often killed when they are no longer fertile. How can you make a difference? The official motto of National Puppy Day is, “Adopt instead of shop!”
To celebrate National Puppy Day, give a puppy a hug, learn more about this important issue, or adopt a dog from your local shelter!
My big, beautiful girl Rosie is a rescue and she has been my wonderful companion for over three years. Rosie is a pit-bull mix and is one of the best dogs I've ever had. Everywhere I go she goes. And that's ok because I love her company.
