Create the Life You Want

Yesterday was Rosie’s monthly spa day at Pet Smart. She doesn’t need to be clipped but I can’t get her in the bath tub to bathe her so Rosie gets to go and get pampered. Pet Smart has wonderful services for maintaining Rosie’s beautiful looks. She loves going on car rides and although she isn’t real excited to get the bath, Rosie prances around when I pick her up. But my girl is getting up in years and a day of getting “beautified” wears her out.

Today’s CY365 prompt lines up with my OLW class nicely. My word is Create. Create the life I want to live. This year there will be many posts that involve ways that I am creating the world I want to live in.

CAPTURE YOUR 365 -
2/365 - One Word
Several years ago I got this great die cutting machine for scrapbooking, glass etching, applique and all sorts of wonderful projects. Then I met a man, fell in love, got my heart shattered, took way longer than he was worth putting my heart back together, had my mother come for a visit (our relationship is strained so this experience was INTERESTING), started seeing a wonderful man, . . . well you get the idea - Life. My point to this is that I've not used this fabulous machine but a handful of times. This prompt gave me the idea of cutting letters out in different fonts and sizes for my picture. I laid the letters out in an uneven way on a stark concrete background because creativity is not a straight line and is a contrast to "sameness". I decided to play in PhotoShop Elements and add the things of what I want to Create for myself this year. I've never tried this technique before and I have to say I like it. Create is my word for 2017 and so my die cutting machine will be well used, PhotoShop Elements techniques tried, photography stretched and many of my sewing projects completed.

ONE LITTLE WORD
Part of Lesson 1 is to keep my word in front of me to remind me of what I want to do this year. With this in mind I took the letters I cut out for the CY365 prompt and put them in a frame to hang up in my girl cave. When I’m in my cave I’ll see my picture and this will remind me to do something and not just sit around thinking of doing something. I think this turned out rather nice. I may get another frame or use the smaller one I have and etch the word “Create” on the glass and put pattern paper behind it. I read an article about what colors mean and for the word Create the colors are orange and purple. I’m going to use these colors in my OLW binder as well as place these colors around my house and work as another visual reminder of my word. Keep my word in front of me.

Yesterday is usually the day that I take down my Christmas decorations but this year I waited until today. There is some sadness at seeing my decorations return to their boxes because this means that the Holiday Season is over. But this also represents the beginning of a new Season. The next couple of months are always the hardest for me to get through. The weather is usually dismal. The sun rarely out. The temperatures cold and the wind blows insistently. I have to wear many layers to stay warm. I am definitely a warm weather lover. However, the days are starting to get longer even if it is by only seconds each day. There is only 2 1/2 months to the first day of Spring. And the Winter weather provides me with lots of time to work on my indoor hobbies. I am "Creating" a positive outlook for the Winter season.

Thanks for visiting with me at "Down Home at Dee's"
